This week we continued with shovel testing Site 4. We have found more historic ceramic from the late 18th century. Also, a few shovel tests have come up with some clearly disturbed stratigraphy.
Student mid-term papers are due this week. Most students are looking at the history of the area, either of Auburn Township or on what little we know of the Native American populations of South Jersey.
Finally, we started preparations for our Open Day on November 8th by choosing where the public will be digging. We showed the students how to lay out 5ft x 5ft excavation units. They cleared them and took opening depths.
