Whispering Woods is located in Salem Co.
The purpose of Phase II testing is to determine the extent and significance of the archaeological findings of the previous Phase I excavation in compliance with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and on the recommendation of Richard Grubb & Associates, Inc. (who compiled the Phase I testing and report). Whispering Woods is comprised of nine (9) sites that have been registered with the New Jersey State Museum (NJSM) and have been given the site designations 28-Sa-193 through 28-Sa-201. Of these sites, four were found to have a significant composition of artifacts and were recommended for further excavation. The other five sites did not contain significant or diagnostic materials; however, at the request of NJHPO, all nine sites are included in the Phase II Work Plan.
